Privacy Policy

You can browse and play games without an account. If you create one, we collect:

• Sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile picture, as provided by Google. We only request your basic profile and email (the email and profile scopes). We never see your Google password and cannot access your Gmail, Drive, contacts or any other Google data.
• Email sign-up: your email address and a password. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; we never see them.
• Your profile: a username and avatar picture.
• Your activity on NaijaGames: which games you start (with the time and platform), scores submitted by games that support them, and any ratings or reviews you post.
• Game submissions: if you submit a game, the details you enter, including a contact email, links and screenshots you upload.

We also process some information automatically:

• Cookies and local storage: a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, and your light/dark theme choice saved in your browser. We do not use advertising cookies.
• Usage statistics: anonymous, cookieless page-view counts from Vercel Web Analytics.
• Technical data: your IP address is used briefly to limit abuse (for example, too many requests in a minute), and our hosting provider keeps standard server logs.

• To sign you in and keep your account secure.
• To show your games played, high scores and reviews on your profile and on public leaderboards.
• To review and publish games that developers submit, and to contact submitters about their game.
• To keep the site working, prevent abuse and understand which pages are used.

We do not sell your personal information, use it for advertising, or use Google user data for any purpose other than signing you in and displaying your profile.

Your username, avatar, scores, and the ratings and reviews you post are public. Your email address is never shown to other players.

We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They process data only on our behalf:

• Supabase: database, file storage and account sign-in.
• Vercel: website hosting and anonymous analytics.
• Google: when you choose Sign in with Google.
• DiceBear: generates default avatar pictures from a random identifier.

Games listed on NaijaGames are made and hosted by their own developers. When you open a game, its developer may collect information under their own privacy policy. Links to games carry a tag showing the visit came from NaijaGames, but no personal information is passed to them.

We may disclose information if required by law.

We keep your account information and activity for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account, profile, scores and reviews, and remove your name from your play history. Server logs are kept only for a short period by our hosting provider.

• You can use NaijaGames without an account.
• You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and all its data.
• You can remove NaijaGames' access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions page.

If you are in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 gives you these rights, and similar laws apply elsewhere. We respond to requests within 30 days.

All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, and access to our database is restricted by row-level security rules. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

NaijaGames is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be announced on the site.
